Message from Frank Foster, Director: This office wants to make everyone affiliated with the coal industry aware of the results from the annual National Mine Rescue Association's Post #5 Mine Rescue, Bench, First Aid and Pre-shift Competitions last week at Mylan Park in Morgantown.
Please note, this contest was also designated as the WV State Contest for 2025

- First Aid Competition - Blackhawk Mining - Britt Crouse, Captain
- Pre-Shift Competition - James Thomas, Alpha Met
- Combination (Mine Rescue & First Aid) - Blackhawk Mining - Brent Bender, Captain
- Mine Rescue Overall (Two Day Competition) - Blackhawk Mining - Brent Bender, Captain
The Office of Miners' Health, Safety & Training is very proud of and thankful to each and every team member who competed with the 21 mine rescue teams last week. Mine Rescue Team Members are a very special breed of people who are ready and willing to jump in and help in the event of a coal mine emergency. Again, we are grateful to all of the teams and team members who competed in this event.
