2025 NMRA Post #5 MINE RESCUE CONTEST, BENCH & FIRST AID CONTEST & PRE-SHIFT CONTEST


Message from Frank Foster, Director: This office wants to make everyone affiliated with the coal industry aware of the results from the annual National Mine Rescue Association's Post #5 Mine Rescue, Bench, First Aid and Pre-shift Competitions last week at Mylan Park in Morgantown.


Please note, this contest was also designated as the WV State Contest for 2025


Hand Clapping and Hats off are in order for the following first place winners in each of the categories mentioned above:


  1. BioPak 240R Bench Competition - Randy Clark, WVU Training Center
  2. Draeger BG4 Bench Competition - Kyle Cook, Coronado Blue Team
  3. First Aid Competition - Blackhawk Mining - Britt Crouse, Captain
  4. Pre-Shift Competition - James Thomas, Alpha Met
  5. Combination (Mine Rescue & First Aid) - Blackhawk Mining - Brent Bender, Captain
  6. Mine Rescue Overall (Two Day Competition) - Blackhawk Mining - Brent Bender, Captain

The Office of Miners' Health, Safety & Training is very proud of and thankful to each and every team member who competed with the 21 mine rescue teams last week. Mine Rescue Team Members are a very special breed of people who are ready and willing to jump in and help in the event of a coal mine emergency. Again, we are grateful to all of the teams and team members who competed in this event.
